Important Installation Note
This is not a small garment eyelet. It is a large stainless steel grommet with a metal washer and requires high closing force. In thick tarpaulin, multi-layer canvas, hard technical textile or leather applications, a small tabletop hand press may not have enough power to close the eyelet and washer evenly.
For proper installation, use the compatible 40 mm / 1.57 in Eyelet Setting Die. If the material hole must be prepared before installation, use the matching 40 mm / 1.57 in Eyelet Punching Die. For stronger application force, a manual impact press, lever press, motorized press or professional eyelet installation machine should be considered.
A suitable hand-striking setting tool may also be used for small quantities or field-type applications. However, for this large stainless eyelet size, hand-striking may be slower and less consistent than press installation. Always test with the real material, real washer and selected tool before production.
Setting Die and Punching Die Are Different Tools
Eyelet installation has two separate steps. First, the material hole is prepared. Then, the eyelet capsule and washer are set into the material. A punching die prepares the hole; a setting die closes the eyelet and washer. These tools should not be confused.
If the hole is too small, the eyelet may not seat correctly. If the hole is too large, the material grip may weaken and the eyelet may rotate or pull out under tension. For tarps, tents, awnings and heavy technical textiles, the material thickness must be matched with the eyelet height before production.
When to Choose Stainless Steel
