Long-Barrel Sheet Steel Eyelet for Layered Materials

This sheet steel eyelet is designed to provide a neat metal finish around small openings in thick fabrics, layered textiles, leather, synthetic leather, cardboard, belts, bags, footwear, tags and compatible accessory materials.

The 4.5 mm / 0.177 in opening may be used for thin laces, cords, strings and ventilation points. Its 8.3 mm / 0.327 in outer flange covers the edge of the prepared opening, while the 7.3 mm / 0.287 in long barrel is formed over the selected washer with a compatible setting die.

The additional barrel depth can be considered when a standard barrel does not provide enough reach through thicker or multi-layer surfaces. Material thickness, washer type and die profile must still be tested together.

Difference Between Standard and Long-Barrel Eyelets

The standard sheet steel eyelet in the same size group has a 5.3 mm / 0.209 in barrel. This long-barrel version has a 7.3 mm / 0.287 in barrel.

The long version therefore provides an additional 2 mm / 0.079 in of barrel depth for thicker or layered materials.

Plastic Washer or Metal Washer?

A plastic washer may be considered when a lighter and softer rear support is preferred for suitable fabric, textile, tag or cardboard applications.

A metal washer may be selected when a traditional all-metal rear finish is required for footwear, bags, leather goods, synthetic leather or belts.

Plastic and metal washers are separate options. The package must not be presented as containing both washer types together.

Setting Die and Hole Preparation

A setting die for approximately 4.5–5 mm / 0.177–0.197 in inner diameter eyelets may be used. The 7.3 mm / 0.287 in barrel must close evenly over the selected washer, so the actual eyelet, washer and die should be tested together.

A separate 4.5 mm / 0.177 in punching die may be used to prepare the hole. The punching die does not set the eyelet; a compatible setting die is still required.

The base package contains 250 eyelet capsules. Quantities of 1,000 or 5,000 pieces may also be selected. Washer type and finish are chosen when ordering.
