Pleated Fly Screen Eyelets, Dies and Kits
This category brings together the products used to prepare PVC strips and install metal eyelets in pleated insect screen and pleated blind systems.
The product range includes individual eyelets, punching dies, setting dies, starter die sets, professional hardened die sets, manual hand-press sets, trial kits containing eyelets and multi-size complete kits.
Not every product has the same contents. Some products contain only eyelets, some contain only dies, and complete kits may combine a manual press, punching dies, setting dies, eyelets and washers.

Pleated Screen Eyelet Size Guide

Is the 5 mm / 0.197 in Production Pack the Same as Every 5–5.5 mm Eyelet?
No. Products with similar nominal measurements should not automatically be treated as identical. Package quantity, outer diameter, height, washer option and setting-die compatibility must be checked separately.
A replacement eyelet should be compared with the actual working surfaces of the existing setting die rather than selected from the product name alone.
Standard, Long-Barrel and Extra-Long Eyelets
A standard-barrel eyelet may be selected when its barrel length is suitable for the PVC strip and selected washer.
A long or extra-long barrel may be considered when a standard barrel does not provide enough length for a folded or layered strip. A longer barrel is not automatically suitable for every application.
The eyelet, washer, PVC strip and setting die should be checked together. Standard and long-barrel eyelets may require different setting-die profiles even when their inner diameters are similar.
Metal and Plastic Washer Options
Metal and plastic washers are alternative backing components. For individual eyelet products, one washer type is normally selected when ordering.
Both washer types should not be assumed to be included in one standard package. Trial and complete kits containing both washer types state this separately in their package contents.
The washer should be selected together with the PVC-strip structure, eyelet barrel height and setting-die profile.
Punching and Setting Are Separate Operations
A punching die prepares the round opening through which the eyelet barrel passes. It does not install or close the eyelet.
A setting die closes the compatible eyelet over the selected washer after the opening has been prepared. It does not cut the PVC strip.
| Eyelet Group |

Setting Operation |
| 4–4.5 mm / 0.157–0.177 in |

| 6–6.5 mm / 0.236–0.256 in |
6 mm / 0.236 in round hole |

Nominal size alone does not confirm die compatibility. Outer diameter, barrel height, face profile and washer construction must also match the setting die.
Starter, Trial and Professional Kit Differences
Starter die set
A starter die set contains one punching die and one setting die for a specific eyelet group. A compatible manual press must already be available.
Manual hand-press starter set
This version adds a manually operated hand press to the punching and setting dies. Eyelets and washers are not included unless they are specifically listed in the package contents.
Trial kit
A trial kit includes the manual press and dies together with the stated quantity of eyelets and washers. It can be selected for sample preparation and system comparison.
Professional die set
Professional sets contain heat-treated hardened-steel punching and setting dies. The manual press, eyelets and washers may be included or excluded depending on the selected set.
Multi-size complete kit
Multi-size kits combine several eyelet groups with their matching dies, consumable components and a manual hand press. Trial and professional versions differ in die construction and consumable quantities.
Which Product Group Should Be Selected?
- Select an individual eyelet and washer when only consumable components are required.
- Select the matching punching and setting dies when a compatible manual press is already available.
- Select a manual hand-press starter or trial kit when no compatible press is available.
- Consider a long-barrel model only after checking the actual PVC-strip and washer thickness.
- Compare multi-size kits when more than one eyelet group will be used.
- Choose professional hardened dies for repeated workshop applications.
Important Selection Checks
- Check the actual inner diameter, outer diameter and barrel height.
- Do not treat standard and long-barrel eyelets as interchangeable.
- Do not select a setting die from the nominal eyelet measurement alone.
- Do not assume that both metal and plastic washers are included.
- Remember that punching and setting require separate dies.
- Check whether the manual press, dies, eyelets and washers are included in the selected kit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this category contain only eyelets?
No. It also contains punching dies, setting dies, starter sets, professional die sets, manual hand-press sets and complete kits.
What are the main pleated-screen eyelet size groups?
The principal groups are 4–4.5 mm / 0.157–0.177 in, 5–5.5 mm / 0.197–0.217 in and 6–6.5 mm / 0.236–0.256 in. Final selection must be based on the actual product dimensions and die compatibility.
Is every 5 mm / 0.197 in eyelet compatible with the same setting die?
No. Outer diameter, barrel height, face profile and washer construction must also match the setting die.
What is the difference between standard and long-barrel eyelets?
A long-barrel eyelet provides additional barrel length. It may be considered when a standard barrel is too short, but it is not automatically suitable for every PVC strip or setting die.
Are both metal and plastic washers included with individual eyelets?
Usually not. One washer option is normally selected when ordering. Kits containing both washer types state this clearly in their package contents.
Are punching and setting completed with the same die?
No. The punching die prepares the PVC-strip opening, while the setting die closes the eyelet over the selected washer.
What is the difference between starter, trial and professional sets?
A starter set contains the basic dies, a trial kit adds the stated eyelets and washers, and a professional set uses heat-treated hardened-steel punching and setting dies according to its package contents.
