44L covering die for 28 mm / 1.10 in fabric-covered shank buttons helps place a pre-cut fabric circle around the correct shell with better control and repeatability. It is used for the covering stage only and does not cut fabric. In this 44L workflow, the matching preparation step is a 44 mm / 1.73 in fabric cut. Test the actual production textile first, especially when the material is thick, stretchy, layered or strongly patterned.
Key Features
This 44L covering die is designed for 28 mm / 1.10 in fabric-covered shank buttons. It is used after the fabric has already been cut to the correct size. The die helps position the prepared textile around the button shell with better control so centering, edge gathering and repeat production can be checked consistently. It does not cut fabric. In this size family, the finished button is 28 mm / 1.10 in while the fabric circle is prepared at 44 mm / 1.73 in.
A fabric-covered button depends on more than the shell diameter. The amount of fabric, the way it is centered and the way the edge gathers all affect the finished appearance. This die handles the covering stage for the 44L / 28 mm shank-button family. It gives the operator a repeatable working size instead of relying on hand placement alone.
E-Düğme treats this product as a tool for shank-style fabric-covered buttons. Similar diameters in other systems should not be assumed to be interchangeable.
28 mm / 1.10 in is the finished button diameter. 44 mm / 1.73 in is the fabric-cut diameter. The larger circle is necessary because the fabric must cover the visible face, wrap over the edge and leave enough material to gather behind the shell.
The matching preparation tool is the 44 mm / 1.73 in fabric cutting die. The cutting die prepares the textile; this covering die handles the next stage.
Light woven fabrics, stretch knits, slippery satin, velvet-like surfaces and thick decorative textiles can behave very differently. A thin fabric may gather easily, while a heavy textile can create more bulk behind the shell. Stretch fabrics may move away from the intended center during placement. Make a few samples with the actual production material before preparing a full batch.
If interfacing, backing or multiple layers will be part of the finished button, test the complete layer construction. A single-layer sample may not represent the final behavior.
With stripes, checks, logos or directional motifs, choose the visible center before cutting. Preserve that orientation when the circle moves into the covering stage. Brushed, shiny or directional fabrics can also look different when rotated, so keeping the same surface direction across a set of buttons improves visual consistency.
This die is useful for tailoring rooms, apparel workshops, sample departments, costume makers, boutique brands and other operations that make matching covered buttons. Using the garment fabric on the button face can create a more integrated look on jackets, dresses, vests and custom textile products.
Do not select the tool by “44L” alone. Confirm the complete relationship: 44L size class, 28 mm / 1.10 in finished button diameter and 44 mm / 1.73 in fabric cut. Confusing the finished diameter with the fabric-cut diameter is one of the easiest ways to choose or prepare the wrong component.
Use the fabric-covered button tools category to compare other size families and keep the correct cutting and covering tools together.

A mismatched die may not seat the shell correctly. A fabric circle that is too small can leave too little material to wrap the edge; one that is too large can create extra bulk behind the button. Even when the dimensions are correct, very thick or layered materials can behave differently. Sample approval therefore belongs in the workflow.
When the fabric circle and shell size are already correct, the covering die gives the operator a more repeatable way to bring the two together. This is especially useful when a group of buttons needs to match in centering, edge gathering and overall appearance rather than being treated as isolated one-off pieces.
Save one approved 44 mm / 1.73 in fabric circle and one finished 28 mm / 1.10 in button together. This creates a physical reference for repeat work and helps prevent the preparation diameter from being confused with the finished size later. If the textile changes, repeat the sample even when the size relationship stays the same.
Before ordering, confirm that your goal is to cover a 44L / 28 mm / 1.10 in shank-style button and that the fabric will be prepared at 44 mm / 1.73 in. If either the finished button size or the preparation size is different, choose the matching size family instead of assuming the tool will adapt to another dimension.
