This 26L Fabric Cutting Die prepares the circular fabric pieces used for 16 mm / 0.63 in fabric-covered buttons. When used with a compatible press, it cuts a 26 mm / 1.02 in circular fabric piece. The cut circle is then placed over the button shell before the covering stage.

This is a Fabric Cutting Die, not a Fabric Button Covering Die. It prepares the fabric but does not form fabric around the button shell or complete snap-fastener installation.

Why Does a 16 mm Button Need a 26 mm Fabric Circle?

That difference creates approximately 5 mm / 0.20 in of fabric allowance on each side. During the covering process, this extra fabric folds inward around the button edge and gathers toward the reverse side. The allowance helps the fabric wrap the face and edge of the button without leaving an exposed border.

Layered Fabric Cutting

For thinner fabrics, cutting approximately 5–6 layers together can improve preparation efficiency. For thicker fabrics, approximately 3–4 layers may be more manageable. The appropriate layer count should be confirmed through sample cutting based on fabric thickness, stretch, surface texture and press force.
