What Is the Pleated Screen Eyelet Starter Die Set?

This starter die set combines the two tools required to prepare a PVC strip and install a compatible pleated insect screen or pleated blind eyelet.

The punch die prepares a 6 mm / 0.236 in round hole. The setting die then supports the visible eyelet face and closes the barrel over the selected washer.

This product is not an eyelet. It is a two-function starter die set for hole preparation and eyelet setting.

Punching and Setting Are Separate Operations

The punch die prepares the round opening in the PVC strip. It does not install the eyelet or washer.

The setting die closes the eyelet barrel over the selected washer. It does not punch the PVC strip.

How Does the 6–6.5 mm / 0.236–0.256 in Range Work?

The punch die always prepares a 6 mm / 0.236 in hole in the PVC strip. Compatible eyelets may have small differences in their finished inner openings.

The setting die accommodates the small dimensional difference while forming the eyelet barrel over the washer. The punching die itself does not provide this tolerance.

Compatibility should also be checked by outer diameter, barrel height, face profile and washer construction rather than by the eyelet size name alone.

Matching Eyelet

The main reference eyelet has a 5.85 mm / 0.230 in production inner diameter, an approximately 6 mm / 0.236 in installed opening, an 11.6 mm / 0.457 in outer diameter and a 5.3 mm / 0.209 in barrel height.

The reference eyelet may be selected with a metal or plastic washer. The washer types are alternatives and must not be treated as one combined washer set.
