What Is the Pleated Screen Eyelet Starter Die Set?

This starter set combines the two die groups required to prepare a PVC strip and install a standard-barrel pleated screen eyelet in the 5–5.5 mm / 0.197–0.217 in size class.

The punch die prepares an approximately 5 mm / 0.197 in round hole. The setting die supports the eyelet face and closes the barrel over the selected washer.

The product is intended for pleated insect screen and pleated blind manufacturers that want the punching and setting tools together.

Punching and Setting Are Separate Operations

The punch die prepares the round hole in the PVC strip. It does not fasten the eyelet or washer.

The setting die closes the eyelet barrel over the selected washer. It does not cut the PVC strip.

Why Is the Punched Hole Approximately 5 mm / 0.197 in?

The 5–5.5 mm / 0.197–0.217 in value identifies the eyelet opening class. The punched hole is prepared for the eyelet barrel that passes through the PVC strip.

The eyelet face and the rear washer retain the PVC material surrounding the opening after setting.

Matching Eyelet

The reference standard-barrel eyelet measures approximately 5.3 mm / 0.209 in in inner diameter, 9.2 mm / 0.362 in in outer diameter and 6 mm / 0.236 in in height.

Eyelets sold under similar 5 mm, 5.5 mm or local size names may have different outer diameters, barrel heights and washer structures. Actual measurements must be checked before production.

Extra-Long Barrel Compatibility

An extra-long eyelet may share the same inner-diameter class but have a different barrel height and outer geometry.

The punch die may be evaluated by hole size, but the setting die must not be treated as automatically compatible with an extra-long barrel.
