Practical Hand Tool for Size 28 Aluminum Eyelets

This Size 28 eyelet hand punch and setting tool is designed for the manual installation of compatible aluminum eyelets with a 12.5 mm (0.49 in) inner diameter. It can be used on tarps, tents, awnings, fabric covers and similar textile surfaces.

One end of the tool helps prepare the eyelet hole, while the other end helps shape and secure the installed eyelet with controlled hammer strikes. Its compact construction makes it useful for home repairs, fieldwork and locations where a hand press or fixed installation machine cannot be used.

Confirmed Compatibility

This tool is intended for Size 28 aluminum eyelets with a 12.5 mm (0.49 in) inner diameter. It must not be used for Size 24 eyelets with a 9 mm (0.35 in) inner diameter or other unverified sizes.

How Do the Two Ends Work?

The tool is turned according to the required operation:

  • Conical punching end: Helps prepare the opening through which the eyelet barrel will pass.
  • Raised setting end: Helps flare and shape the eyelet barrel during hammer installation.

This two-function design allows small repairs and low-volume applications to be completed without carrying separate punching and setting tools.

Size and Material Warning

The eyelet size number alone is not sufficient to confirm compatibility. Verify that the eyelet is Size 28, has a 12.5 mm (0.49 in) inner diameter and is made of aluminum. Brass, stainless steel or differently proportioned eyelets may require another setting tool.

How to Use the Tool

  1. Mark the position where the eyelet will be installed.
  2. Place the material on a flat, solid and impact-resistant work surface.
  3. Position the conical punching end vertically on the marked point.
  4. Use controlled hammer strikes to prepare the required opening.
  5. Insert the aluminum eyelet through the prepared hole.
  6. If the eyelet is used with a washer, position the washer correctly over the barrel.
  7. Turn the tool to its setting position and place the raised end over the eyelet.
  8. Hold the tool vertically and apply light, even hammer strikes.
  9. Check that the eyelet and washer are evenly seated against the material.

How Is It Different from a Press-Mounted Die?

This product is not a threaded upper and lower die set designed for installation in a manual, impact, electric or pneumatic press. It is a portable hand-held tool that is struck directly with a hammer.

The hand tool is practical for repairs, samples, emergency work and low-volume applications. For continuous or high-volume production, a compatible press and dedicated eyelet die may provide more consistent and repeatable installation results.

Any requested colors outside the standard range, enamel applications, stone details, or similar custom works are subject to additional charges. Retail Sales

In retail sales, packaged products are shipped in the color specified on the package. For products with a minimum order quantity stated on the product page, the customer’s selected color is only supplied for orders placed at or above the minimum quantity indicated on the page. For color requests placed below the minimum order quantity specified on the product page, shipments are made from the colors available in stock.

For orders of 5,000 pieces and above, production can be planned in your requested custom color, and the products are generally prepared for shipment within 3–4 business days. This period may vary depending on the product type and the applications required.
