24L 15 mm / 0.591 in Fabric-Covered Snap Fastener
This 24L fabric-covered snap fastener creates a functional closure whose visible surface can be matched to the main fabric of the garment or textile product. The aluminium upper cap is covered with the selected fabric to create a coordinated and customised appearance.
This model uses a 54-system lower fastening construction. The package does not contain caps only; all components required to prepare 100 fabric-covered caps and form 100 working snap fastener sets are supplied together.
Finish selection: Select the finish of the three stainless lower snap components from the colour options before placing your order. This selection applies to the socket, stud and post. It does not determine the appearance of the aluminium cap because the cap is intended to be covered with the customer’s fabric.

When Should This Snap Fastener Be Selected?
- When the visible snap surface needs to match the main fabric of the product,
- When a 24L cap producing an approximately 15 mm / 0.591 in finished diameter is required,
- When a fabric-covered closure is preferred instead of an exposed metal cap,
- For jackets, coats, waistcoats, dresses, shirts and textile accessories,
- For boutique production, sampling and customised garment projects,
- When 100 complete snap fastener sets are required.
Three Separate Dies Are Required
Preparing and installing this fabric-covered snap fastener involves three separate operations. The fabric must first be cut, the aluminium cap must then be covered, and the completed snap fastener must finally be installed on the textile product.
Select the following three dies from the related-products section:
- Fabric cutting die: Cuts the covering fabric into the correct circular form.
- 24L fabric covering die: Combines the fabric with the aluminium cap, plastic support washer and brass cap back to prepare the covered upper cap.
- 15 mm / 0.591 in 54-system snap installation die: Installs the prepared fabric-covered cap and the three stainless lower fastening components onto the textile product.
The fabric covering die does not install the complete snap fastener onto the textile product. Fabric cutting, cap covering and final snap installation are separate operations. The correct die is required for each stage.
Compatible Presses and Machines
With the correct die connection, the fabric cutting die, covering die and snap installation die can be used with the following machines:
Check the connection thread of each die against the machine before ordering. The press alone does not complete every operation; the correct cutting, covering or installation die must be fitted for the relevant production stage.
Application Process
- Cut the selected covering fabric with the 24L fabric cutting die.
- Centre the cut fabric over the aluminium cap.
- Position the aluminium cap, fabric, plastic support washer and brass cap back in their correct directions.
- Use the 24L covering die to prepare the completed fabric-covered cap.
- Position the covered cap, socket, stud and post correctly on the textile product.
- Use the 15 mm / 0.591 in 54-system installation die to complete the final assembly.
- Test the opening, closing and fabric retention on a sample before production.
Incorrect Selection and Application Warning
- This product uses a 54-system fastening construction and must not be treated as an Alfa-system snap.
- Do not select a die by the 15 mm / 0.591 in cap diameter alone; the fastening system and actual cap profile must also match.
- Very thick or rigid fabrics may prevent the cap edge from closing correctly.
- Thin, elastic or loosely woven fabrics may require reinforcement.
- Centre patterned fabric before cutting so that the required motif appears in the middle of the finished cap.
- Begin with low press force and increase it gradually after examining the sample.
- Confirm the finish selected for the lower three components before ordering.
Applications
- Jackets and coats
- Waistcoats and shirts
- Dresses and skirts
- Children’s and adult garments
- Bags and textile accessories
- Home textile products
- Boutique and customised production
- Sampling and collection development
